Special Opportunities
Small Group Discipleship: This is a time when students will grow deeper in their relationship with Christ. Generally for high school students, this class will meet for eight-week periods where they will be asked for a commitment to be there each week, as well as do our class study and reading.Choir/Praise Band Discipleship: We'd like to build a praise band team that would consist of dedicated members to lead worship during IGNITE on Wednesdays as well as other times. We'd also like to build a youth choir which can lead our congregation during specified times for special events. The goal would be to have the praise team as well as the choir become a consistent part of our Sunday morning services throughout the year.
"The Mix" Worship: We meet on the fifth Sunday night to worship as a community of youth. There are various other special events planned throughout the year (which include "See You at the Pole, the community-wide Disciple Now weekend, the Christmas progressive dinner, etc.) with the churches that make up The Mix.
Acts of Random Kindness: We want to be intentional in our Missions for this next year. We'll attempt to do one mission project a month in our community.
J's Java Shop: This is a time for our high school students to hang out in a coffee shopt atmosphere for praise, worship and fellowshp with their peers. A schedule will be formulated for this time.
"The Mix" Weekend: The next Mix Weekend will be in the spring of 2009.
Our On-going Ministry
Student Life: We have a new outlook on traditional Sunday School again this year. We have split up our Student Life classes into male and female groups, with two middle school boys classes, a middle school girls class, a high school girls class and a high school boys class. The curriculum will be both gender specific and Bible study oriented from the Student Life series.Linked: This is a Sunday night activity where all youth will come together for accountability groups (with mixed ages and genders), small group discussions, play time, and periodic community missions (such as our "Acts of Random Kindness" night). This time is about linking with each other to "do life" in the name of Christ.
IGNITE: This is a time when students can come together for praise and worship that is more in step with their culture. The topic will be relevant to the needs of teenagers. The music will be a mixture of current praise and worship as well as the classic music and humns that lead us into a personal time of worship. Both middle school and high school students attend this event. We meet on Wednesday nights at 5:45 p.m. for a time of dinner with worship time following from 6:30-7:15 p.m.
Early Bird Specials: Middle school meets for breakfast on Tuesday mornings, and high school school meets on Thursday mornings at 7:15 a.m., at Fuller's Fried Chicken, in front of the Roses' shopping center. Any middle or high schoolers who don't drive will be taken to school in the TBC "limo."
